Recent research has shown that over a third of parents are reluctant to leave an inheritance to their married children because they don't want their child's spouse to benefit from the gift in the event that the couple divorce.
According to the Daily Mail, the research also revealed that 25% of respondents thought it quite likely that their child's marriage would break up.
Almost three quarters of parents questioned showed strong support for the idea of legally binding pre-nuptial agreements, so that they could be sure that any inheritance left to a married child would remain theirs in the event of a divorce.
