Recent figures released by the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass) have shown that the Service received 841 care applications during October 2011.
Cafcass works with the family courts in England to help ensure that any decisions in family proceedings are made with the children's best interests in mind.
The recent statistics have revealed that care application demand has continued to remain at a very high level. Cafcass received 5,798 new applications between the months of April and October 2011 – a rise of 10.1% over the same period last year.
The number of applications received during August 2011 were the second highest ever received by Cafcass in a single month, and applications received during the months from May to October 2011 reached the highest numbers ever recorded for each of those individual months.
