The latest figures from the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass) have revealed that it received a total of 808 care applications in December 2013. This figure represents a 6% decrease compared to those received in December 2012.
Between April and December 2013 Cafcass received a total of 7,896 applications. This figure is 4% lower when compared to the same period last year, when 8,190 applications were received.
Cafcass has also released figures showing that it received a total of 2,871 new private law cases, which is a 4% decrease on December 2012 levels.
Cafcass represents children in family court cases, making sure that their voices are heard and that the decisions that are made about them are in their best interests. The types of cases it works with includes:-
- Adoption (public law)
- Care Orders (public law)
- Emergency Protection Orders (public law)
- Residency and contact following divorce and separation (private law)
