The latest figures from the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass) show that during the month of November, it received a total of 3,524 new private law cases. This is a 15% decrease on November 2012 levels.
Between April and November 2013 Cafcass received a total of 33,356 new private law cases, which is an increase of 8% from the 30,914 cases received in the same period last year.
Between April 2012-March 2013 Cafcass received 45,629 new private law cases, which represents a 9% increase on the 41,791 cases received in 2011-12.
Cafcass represents children in family court cases, making sure that their voices are heard and that the decisions that are made about them are in their best interests. It supports or works with over 145,000 children in public and private law cases every year.
